Those tires were designed in the 80's where the only way to have a sticky tire is if they last 8-10K miles. Just like the Bridgestone RE-71, Yokohama AVS-Intermediate & a few others, great tires even by todays standards but don't expect them to last long at all!!!!!!!!
If you only care about summer performance & they are under probably $70 per tire then go for it, just plan on getting another set next year. When I used the AVS Int. I needed a new set every year & just got tired of doing that.
With the new tire technology, tires can have a treadwear of 300 (vs 100-160 for the P700's) & still stick better.
