I agree that, this size compressor might be a little over kill, if all you're running is an impact wrench and air hammer. I got my self a used Emglo 40 gallon compressor with a 240v single phase motor. I've run pvc lines all over my shop so that i can tap into it with what ever tool im using without having to drag a long hose everywhere. This is more then enough "air" for every air tool i've tried to run with it. Ive got the cut out set at 150psi and the cut in at 120. I would suggest a setup something like this because you can get used compressors relatively cheap (i got a good deal on mine, and only paid $100 bucks), and if you get a good quality one like Emglo or Ingersoll-Rand, they should last you quite a while if they're taken care of. An air compressor is defiantly a great investment for any DIYer, weather you get a new one or not. Just my $0.02, good luck.
