Your test light may light up, but the ground may still not be good enough.
What you really need to do to test the ground is get an OHM Meter. Connect the two leeds together and note the voltage. It should be 0.001 or something like that. Now connect 1 lead to the battery and 1 lead to the LH grounds, it should be 0.200 or something very small like that. I ran into the EXACT same problem last weekend. I was at something like 29.000 OHMs.
I ended up sanding off more coating to get more metal/metal contact.
The plan B is to make another 8 gauge wire. Connect it to the LH grounds and to the engine ground and see if it starts up.
If those grounds aren't good, the distributor won't give a signal, which in turn the LH ECU won't turn on the fuel pump!
