So this morning I picked up my 9-5 with
the Viggen seats, special leather interior
from Hirsch and the Step2 260Hp ECU. (I have a 5spd manual)

Step2:
a) K&N Sportsfilter
b) Customer larger Intercooler
c) 260Hp ECU for this setup

And WOW... Turbo lag.... what Turbo lag its completely
gone... I get full boost in a blink of an eye! WEIRD!

SO here are some answers for you:

a) Is the Fuel burn worse?
NO I did not notice any difference during regular cruising and
driving. I tested this first.

b) How far does the boost needle go into the red?
1/3 as before in overboost, but it gets there in a blink of an eye.

c) Do you still use the std exhaust?
Yes, all of the exhaust is unchanged.

d) Is the car faster?
Yes acceleration is much better. Top speed is now 250Km/h ( 155Mph ECU limited) It fast enough don't you think!

e) Does the traction control still work.
Yes, but you should be a little more carefull on wet roads.

f) Does curise control still work?
Sure does.

g) Do you need to change the regular service intervals.
No. But full synth oil 5w-40 is a minimum requirement.
As always changing your oil every 10'000Km (6200 miles)
is a good thing. Hirsch recommends 0w-40 or 5w-50 as well
as 5w-40.

h) Will it void my warranty?
YES it will in the US. In Switzerland the 1 year
warranty is not affected if you by your car new with
all the mods from Hirsch. So in order to use this
mod in the US you need a tunning friendly dealer
or you need to accept the fact that it will void
the SAAB warranty on the Engine and gearbox.
Considering that the next Aero will have 250Hp I don't
think that it will destroy the engine if you take
proper care of it.

i) Will it pass US emissions tests.
It should, but Hirsch is currently testing this.

j) Is it fun?
:) :) :) :) :)

k) What fuel is needed?
US 93 or 94 octane. Euro 98 Octane.

l) what is the price for the engine mod?
It's NOT cheap, but not overly pricey! Ask Hirsch!

Regards,
Coolknight
