Pressure relief valve / BTM Ignition question

Talked to Darren Dawes at Dawes Devices: asked for the pressure relief valve that Kevin K has found to work well with the MSD BTM. Darren said the part that will do the trick is a cut-out raiser (at http://www.dawesdevices.com/cutout.html).
Is that really the part I should get? What makes me wonder is this: for me this looks like a regular bleeder that will vent the excess pressure into the atmosphere. Will this really work precisely enough to restrict the pressure the BTM sees into a preset level? In case of a sudden pressure drop it should react fast enough, but will it really do a good job in restricting the peak pressure? Loosing measured air from the circulation is never a good idea, but I guess the amounts involved here will not really affect the mixture.
I thought the pressure valve would have been connected in series with the BTM...
