SOOOOOOOOOO CONFUSED!!!!!!!!

Alright it is the tire dilemma still! I have heard many suggestions of 215-45-17...even Saab technician recomended same size. But if you go to the 9-3 Board and read about the guy with the viggen wheels in the carwash you will see where i am coming from. My wheels are 17'x8' (That's right 8 in wide on a 9-3!) Now it seems to me that if people in a viggen are suffering rim damage to the face with a 215 tire size and their rims are 1/2 narrower then mine would be even worse! If with a 225 that is still quite a strech for an 8in rim...so what gives...do i go with a 235/40. I bought the Gary Fisher edition wheels from Norm's 9-5 and now i am getting nervous about whether they will fit or not...i thought they were 7.5in wide. Not to mention that i wanted to install tighter springs that would drop the car 1-1.5 in and now i am learning that that could be a problem with the 9-3 (5dr) gas filler tube! Not to mention possible rubbing.

P.S. If you read that thread about the viggen-i would never take my car to an auto wash(especially if it screwed up the car previously) Props to all that still hand wash his/her car that is the way to be!
