Just got back from the June 16-17 VFA. Thanks to all instructors and organizers as well as the fellow participants. It was certainly an interesting weekend. Just learning who the other Viggen owners are and hearing their comments and complaints was informative.
I highlight for me was an exercise where we were allowed to compare a 2001 car (nice steel grey) with the traction control and another one (tired-looking black) 2000 without the TCS. It turned out that one could go faster without the TCS by properly controlling the wheel spin with the right foot. Personally, I would like to have an option of TCS but after attending this and a few other driving schools I can be as efficient as the TCS in preventing the wheel spin. Overall, SAAB is to be congratulated for this initiative.
One advice to those planning on attending during the summer. Bring a lot of sunscreen and a hat! Finally we got to meet a new SAAB person in charge of the VFA, John Libbos. Very nice guy and an excellent driver too. He attended the school as a student! I think that the future of SAAB USA marketing is in good hands. I hope that some of it will spill over to Canada as well.
