Car mag writers historically give the nod to European cars (especially if the mag is based in Europe). Call it Euro-ego!
If I had to pick one over the other, I think it would be a tough call deciding. The M3 is an awesome creature, but like all BMws they keep growing in size and weight. There must be something in the water in Bavaria. :>) As for the "more of an animal" comment. Sure a RWD vs. AWD machine will always seem "more fun." It's much easier to get the tail out in a RWD, that's just physics.
I think I'll stick with my ORIGINAL E30 M3.
