problem with timing is you can retard all you want and keep detonation from happening, but you'll loose power from the excessive retard. happens with mine too. i have msd btm and stock retard defeated, so i can adjust it all with the dashpot. i can adjust timing to peg my 20 psi boost gauge, but don't see any real increase in power above 17 psi or so. a/f gauge confirms i'm getting proper fuel mixture so i'm not leaning out or too rich. after dialing back retard, i get more low end power, but hit detonation earlier. toss up. i still need to get a relief put in the circuit. but, you'll have the same problem if you put in too much retard, you'll loose power. you want to retard it just enough to prevent knock and keep it advanced as much as possible. but, i don't know how you do it through programming since different weather conditions will change when you hit det... let me know how the sds turns out. i'm curious to see the results once it's all tuned. is it worth the $? how much roughly? thanks, good luck.
