Thanks for the comments Kevin!
>1) Graph of 'no relief' ... 16 deg basic, 2.5 ret from act, .2 at btm
>at 17 psi, this would be a total retard of 5.7 deg from 16 (1 psi btm >default offset), for net of about 10 adv at 17 psi. Your plot does not >show this. I assume the plot was to reflect this initial way you ran btm, >no?
You're absolutely right. It turned out that I really had no idea where I had the BTM set at before I actually checked the timings. This "initial" plot represents 1:1 the setup I had in my car. I guess I should delete the old info from my pages where I'm talking about the "precise" settings I had. Now that I've looked more into this I know I should not say anything about timing before actually checking it out myself with a lamp...
>2) 'suggested by Kevin K' plot .... This is not correct, the 'total >retard' values I listed at Jeff's site are relative to oem static setting >of 16 deg (I think you thought it was related to my suggested 18 deg). >This will drop my curve down close to your's at high boost.
Thanks for the correction, I misunderstood the info! I actually thought it just might be possible for you US folks to keep the timing up at 12 degs @15psi since most of you have the priviledge of purchasing non-MTBF formulated gas which will not self-ignite as easily as our "green gas". Now that your map is about the same with my findings things make more sense. I'll remove "your" line from the graph to avoid further confusion.
Jouko
