not skilled in aiming the Laser, he may be targeting the wrong *you* if you will. But laser light is "coherent", meaning all the waves are moving in unison, at the same frequency. This is why laser light can go such long distances at such a narrow beam.

(Slightly off topic: NASA bounced a Xenon laser beam off the Moon. 2" wide at the source here on Earth, no more than 2 miles wide on the lunar surface after traversing more than 240,000 miles. Amazing...)

On reflection, this is exactly what a speed sensing laser needs in order to sense the speed. Most of the reflection is in other directions, but a miniscule portion of the light beam is bounced back to the photoreceptor. What *really* screws up laser detectors is laser absorption. But that would mean a special flat black paint job -- kinda like primer paint, and I'm not going to do that to my car. ;-P

Point is, I agree with WASSAAB. If the laser detector in you car detects laser light hitting you, then you're already caught. Whether you were speeding or not is up to you and you're right foot. But the laser already has "seen" you and knows how fast you were going...

On another similar note, there is a British car manufacturer that has made a street legal stealth car complete with the flat-black paint job and multi-faceted diamond-cut-like body similar to the F-117 Stealth Fighter. Top speed is over 150mph. Supposedly is impervious to Radar. It is a single seat rear engined car. Can't recall particulars on engine type, etc.

Price for said toy? Over $100,000USD. Who needs detectors with a toy like that?

Jim M.
