Car was running really good. I filled up with gas and about 40 miles noticed the car was really running like crap. I pulled over and checked all vacuum lines, but nothing was out of place. I continued to drive assuming it was the gas. After 200 miles, I put another 8 gallons of gas in it. The car didn't run any better. After another 100, I finally got some dry gas, and put another 4 gallons in it. Made it home, but car still running on 3 cylinders.
This morning I pulled the plugs. 1-3 looked good, 4 was very, very black.
I put a new plug in 4 hoping it was just fouled, but no change in running.
Timing is at 16, AMM seems okay, coolant temp sensor checks out. NO vacuum leaks.
Air/Fuel gauge shows a leaner than normal mixture. Vacuum gauge shows almost no vacuum at idle. Maybe 5 Hg's. Exhaust looks okay, doesn't smell anything bad.
I gotta go buy a compression gauge and at least see if that is causing running problem.
Cylinder head is pretty new, about 3,000 miles on it. Rings have 192,000 on them. I really hope it's not the head! Too much money into it.
Any guesses out there? Is the engine done for? This is really bad timing.
