NOS-Nitrous-Oxide
The purpose of NOS is two fold<
1) the NO goes in as a liquid then rapidly expands into a gas, When a gas does this it gets REALY cold thus lowering the intake temp and increasing the air/fuel density thus more air/fuel
2) when under compression the nitrous oxide breaks apart froming N2 and O2...meaning more oxygen...thus you can add more fuel and get more power...pretty much as much as you want..100hp...300hp..etc.
The negatives are that you put a-lot of force on the main bearings and on the engine 2) if you do not tune your engine right all that oxygen could make your engine run VERY VERY LEAN thus buring holes in your cylinders and blowing your engine.
NOS is a very cheap (initally) way to make power...but like a turbo or supercharger, if you want to run it well you have to buld the engine for it...esp with the larger shot systems.
