About a year ago, emboldened by reading Monster's hilarious postings of his own upgraded saga, and after watching posts on the main board for a couple years, I asked for suggestions on how to modify my 87 SPG into a reliable "sweet road car" with a fat mid-range and a target of around 200 hp. Kevin K, Justin, AlanB, GSK at Swedish Dynamics, and Gary Moore all pitched in; Dave New, the Tweaker and many others added their thoughts as the project unfolded.

I'm mostly there now (still need 24 lb injectors and should get RRFPR), but after a 300-odd mile run last night and this morning up the interstate then on the lonesome back roads through the hills, I have a few well-chosen words of my own to offer back:

YEEHAW!!! That was FUN. THANK YOU!

All-around drive-ability is great, response has improved across the board, and mid-range response is very impressive. Very significant improvement in 50-80 response, and impressive 80-100 response (no safe opportunity to check any higher). No dyno, but the difference is tremendous... butt dyno puts it past the 200 hp mark already, compared to 165 hp pre-modification days. She ran well new; she roars now.

You guys are a tremendous resource. Without your help, I'd never have been able to pull this off. Tonight, I'm buying some good beer, and I will drink to your health, happiness and good fortune (after parking for the night, of course).

Of course, it'll never end. Now I have to dump the EQ and upgrade the radio to free the center console for more gauges... gotta upgrade those injectors... and hey, anybody want to help do a headliner in my garage? Three months left til the annual Ice Age returns....

87 SPG "The Stealthbomber"
Modestly modified with rewired APC, 3.0 FPR, AID, open K&N, sport exhaust; boosting 80% red before knock, then promply climbing back to 50%... hopefully, the 24 lb injectors will stabilize that. The saga continues....
