Spent all day Saturday putting the top end together. Fired it up with a booster box because battery was dead. Failed to attach alternator ground. Ran lack doody. Got some rest, thought about it, and charged the battery and connected ground strap to Alt. Fired right up and BELIEVE IT OR NOT, it didn't leak oil or anti freeze out of its various orifices. Amazing things happen when some one pays attention.
Anyway, the bottom line is this: After 20 months of hassles and unneeded expense, my engine is back together. I did not drive it because it needs a tag....that's tomorrow. I did sneak a couple of drives down a backstreet behind the shop.
Next step is to get some miles on the engine before I push it. I more concerned with it all staying together....paronoid I suppose.
Damn, hard to believe.
I'll post all the mods to the car and engine in the near future for those of you interested....I just hope it runs good for everything I've done.
