Axxis 'Deluxe' pads are mainly organic material (small amount of metal) and Axxis 'MetalMaster' are semi-metalic (lots of metal with a binder).
The main difference is the temperature that the pads can handle on a continuous basis. The 'Deluxe' pads will handle normal street driving, freeway use, and occasional 'sporty' driving. The 'MetalMaster' pads will handle all that plus almost constant 'sporty' driving.
The big trade-off for the high heat capacity is that the 'MetalMaster' pads will not give full braking until they warm-up, that takes a couple stops. This can be really dangerous for street driving, and in rainy or snowy conditions.
I have driven Axxis 'Deluxe' pads very hard on mountainous roads and have never had them 'fade' or start to lose their braking ability.
Now given all that Axxis has reformulated both the 'Deluxe'(now called 'Deluxe Plus') and the 'MetalMaster' pads. Axxis claims the 'Deluxe' are as good as ever and are asbestoes free. The 'MetalMaster' pads are claimed to have improved cold stopping. I am anxious to hear some experience with the new formulations.
