still working out the glitches, but the work is mostly complete, and the car is on the road. In Jan. I put the #4 piston rod through the transmission coming over blewett pass in the middle of the night in blizzard conditions in my 85 900s. Glad we had food and sleeping bags in the car! Long story short, one $550 parts car (84t 8v) and tons of greasy hours spent by me later, I have a turbo conversion. This car has been completely restored, it's primed and ready to paint.
However there are some strange wiring problems that exist. the gauges all work except for the tach. When you first start the car the gauges (temp & gas) don't come on until you rev it slightly; typical saab, but also the battery light does not come on until you rev it and then it comes on solid. the exact opposite of what is supposed to happen. The alternator is doing its charging job just fine. It seems like there must be
some alternator wiring which is reversed, but I can't figure it out, having tried all possible combinations I can think of. Also the oil light never comes on, and I know the bulb is good and have tried two different sensors.
thanks for any insight into this
