Finaly started engine last night after replacing starter. I must have ruined it when I cleaned it....what a dope.
Car started right up.......then, noticed that anti-freeze was leaking out around number 4 exhaust port. Nice. Called PAECO immediately and asked what was up. Karl said that copper head gaskets are notorious for leaking until the seal. Interesting fact that he neglected to tell me about when I picked up the engine. Anyway, re-started and let it warm up. Pulled valve cover and retorqued all the head bolts. Started again and ran for about 25 minutes. Leaking became far less noticeable, but when my mechanic increased engine speed to about 4 grand, leaking picked up. We just let it run and then shut it down for the night. It did sound good, though. What an odyessey (sp?).
So what do you know about copper head gaskets and initial sealing, or anyone else reading this post. Our initial thought was that when the headwork was done, someone nicked the waterjacket.. However, two other exhaust ports were showing signs of weeping, too.
