The stock 9-5 Aero exhaust is ok up to around
260Hp. Only above that do you need a larger
downpipe.
I am not sure why I keep hearing this change the
exhaust bla bla bla arguments.
The hot gasses are collected then fed into the
turbo where they decompress and cool down through
the means of pressure loss. What gets got here is
the turbo... Some tunners (no names here) run the
engine lean at high rpms as to get hoter exhaust gases
and thus a higher gas velocity towards the turbo...
which is ok for the turbo but no good for the valves.
(There is of course a range, you can increase temps
but within limits)
As such the exhaust gas temp. after the turbo into the
cat/kat is only important in the sense that too high temps
could damage it, this is why a larger downpipe ads a benefit
as this reduces pressure and thus temp.
Yes sure a free flow exhaust will benefit the HP, but it
is not always needed! It all depens on what ECU you're using!
Those with very high exhaust temps might be a problem for
the standard exhaust! As to who does what ECU... visit all
the tuner pages and find out!
One more thing... while there are a few exhaust upgrades available
you should use one that is recommended by your ECU specialist so that
it works fine with the ECU.

Coolknight
Have some of these so called turbo specialists ever seen a P38 engine,
what pipe ???
