Hi,
I decided to go the same route on Saabine: 88+ hub/axle conversion including rear handbrake and 88+(T)/90+ (NA) 9000 front calipers. These are indeed the same on the Aero, except discs and pads are a different part # on the latter. I reckon if it's good enough to haul down a 9000 Aero with aplomb this set up should be ample for my '85, non-sunroof, non-AC, etc. 900T weighing some 400 lbs (180 kg) less...
For rotors/pads, I got the 'Stage 2' combo from Trent Saab (which consists of Ferodo DS 3000 compound pads (friction coefficient of well over .6) and plain, unslotted Brembo disks). The latter because of their track testing suggesting that, as the DS 3000 is a non-gassing compound, the slots actually do more harm than good.
I've been promised massive and consistent stopping power, even for heavy duty track day use, with this combo by Graham of Trent Saab and as they never failed to exceed my expectations before...
Will report on the brake conversion as soon as my shop gets to it -which _should_ be first thing next week. I can't wait until I get to drive this car again!!
Happy Saabing,
Eric
