Brad's Resister in (013) AMM Trick! (from SPG9) Posted by 900 Aero [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: high RPM misfire, Vince T, Thu, 16 Aug 2001 11:57:23 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Resistor workaround for overboost-cut out. (‘89 to ’93 & ’94 commemorative edition / convertible Classic 900T’s and ’89 only 9000T’s)
The ECU airflow from the AMM has a variable voltage. Adding a resistor drops the voltage range, fooling the ECU into thinking the motor is flowing less air than it really is, thereby preventing it from reaching the point set for over boost. But be aware that this also means the ECU will be delivering less fuel. IT WILL BE LEANER. So you need to go richer with larger fuel injectors to compensate.
We recommend our larger 30 lb/hr red injectors and add ½ watt resistors as necessary to the orange wire in your 013 Air Mass Meter from 300 to 700 ohms (we only had to go higher "1000 ohms" once). You can use different combinations of resistors in series or in parallel to fine tune with this method if you have an air-fuel ratio gauge. Otherwise just go with a lower resistance so, as not to lean the mixture out too much, or it could be BYE BYE PISTONS!
