I was following him through traffic when he noticed me. A new lane opened to my surprise and he took off. It was about 130 MPH when I came up behind him and I had to either brake or jump from lane four to lane two to make a pass and that is what I did. That poor Jeep that found itself between us. ;) We went at a few more times with the same results. On the final run the road was clear so I just laid into her and let up when I was a good distance ahead and said to myself I had enough. I let him pull up next to me and he gave me thumbs up I returned with the same. Enough to make your day!
The Taurus SHO that you mentioned was probably a 3.2 liter V6 with 220 hp. They went with the 3.2 liters for more torque when the automatic was introduced later. Not sure what the torque is but when they come up on cam they are quite fast thanks to Yamaha which did the heads. Orginally the displacement was 3.0 liters and the same 220 hp. The intake had dual chambers for all RPM drivability but the clutch was a weak link(sounds like an Audi S4 :P). 0-60 & 1/4 times in the mid 6's and low 15's which was exceptional for 1989. After 100 MPH the '89 SHO would leave a Mustang of the same era. America's first FWD performance sedan? If you want to find out more try http://www.shotimes.com.
