I am considering using the Forge-007P bypass valve (as shown in the attached picture) in the Viggen. Static control port measurements show that the Saab (Bosch) valve opens at about 6.5 psi while the Forge valve opens at about half of this valve or about 3.25 psi. It should be no surprise that the Bosch valve requires a much larger vacuum to open sufficiently to flow a large volume of air (Bosch = 10 psi, Forge = 5 psi).
Another observation is that much less pressure need be applied to the port that is in line with the piston to cause the valve to flow as compared to a similar test on the Bosch valve. In other words the Bosch valve’s spring exerts much more force. (Note that I only wish I had access to a flow bench and a pressure gauge such that these observations could be quantitative.)
Given the above it appears to me that the stock Bosch valve is better suited to the Viggen than the Forge or am I missing something?
