Here's the deal:
All 16v heads are substantially the same. There were a few changes over the years, but none of them dealbreakers when swapping them around. Early heads used differing inlet port sizes to swirl incoming air whereas later heads used slightly offset intake cam lobes to achieve this effect. The changeover occured in '87 IIRC. Starting in late '88, the cam follower oil feeds were moved from external lines to internal oil passages. The cams between turbo and non are the same on all 2.0l NA and 2.0l APC engines; the extra compression is achieved using slightly different pistons dimensions. If you just want the car to run, any 16v head will do. If you want it to run great, grab a 16v head from a 2.3l. If you want it to run like it should, grab a 16v head from an '89 or later 2.0l.
