The springs are short enough to have 1/2-1" gap when the suspension
is at full droop and the shocks are disconnected. This is just how
it is.
What you should do: pay attention when lowering the car back down
onto its wheels, and make sure the spring stays on the bottom seat,
while the top is guided into the top seat. They will occasionally
pop in/out when raising/lowering the car with a jack.
I have always thought about safety-wiring mine, but I never got
around to it. Nothing has ever shifted when I was driving, just
when dropping it down from the raised position - just keep an eye
on it.
And definitely enjoy never having to use a spring compressor or those
stupid A-arm blocks ever again! C/V joints, ball joints, bushing
replacement etc. all go much easier now...
