Don't heat them, or cut them with a torch, it'll take the temper out and they will sag big time. First check how much more room you have against you bump stops, if you only have an inch clearance, well obviously you will have to deal with the stops first. On most cars they can be trimmed a little. If you have the oem springs still laying around I'd try cutting a coil off at a time (use a high speed cutting wheel) on one side, and leaving the other side with the lowering spring, just to see what happens. Most of the Ricers you see that are really "slammed" achieve their lowering by modifying the suspension mostly, and the springs only slightly.
