Another spg revival story (long)

Picked up an spg for 1,200 back in early Aug. The car had a toasted tranny but otherwise was in great condition. A week prior to buying the car our battered 80 900t was clobbered in Van. B.C. The 80 had a good tranny so the plan was to swap in the good tranny and we would have a nice car. Of course I ended up doing an engine rebuild and replacing all the bushings, ball joints, and boots on the front end. Once I had the engine out I couldn't just bolt it to the transmission without fixing everything. Chris X helped me with some work swapping inner drivers for the donor transmission. (Despite his crankiness on this bb, he is fairly nice guy and children like him!). This weekend was the final task, putting in a steering pump that didn't leak.
The car is wonderful! I love the way it handles and the engine sounds beautiful. Wife --whose car it will become--likes it as well. Total outlay was about $1,200 bucks for parts. My cost after the insurence $ came in was about 500. Now I can get back to tweaking my 99 16vt (grinding away porting on the cylinder head) to humiliate ChrisX at the next dyno daze.
