I have TSW's that are 16 x 7.5 on my 89' SPG. I have lowered my SPG another inch over stock with Intrax springs and Bilstein shocks. I originally had 205/50/16 tires, but they rubbed on the screws that are inside of the plastic SPG fender flares. I took the top two screws out of each flare and put RTV silicone in there place to help hold the flares on. I now have 205/45/16 tires on and it pretty much eliminated the rubbing. Now only if the car is fully loaded with people does it rub. The advantages of wide low rubber is the grip level, disadvantages = harsher ride
Now if you are going to leave the ride height stock you wouldn't have a problem with 50 series tires, but the 45's handle better.
