The 2 DC area Saab clubs co-sponsored the MWCSCC's 9th and final Championship autocross of the season today. About 130 cars showed up, including a Ferrari 328, a Lotus Europa, a Lotus 7, numerous RX-7s (new and old), numerous Honda S2000s (7 or 8, I think), about 5 M3s, a bunch of highly tuned Corvettes, and a 928 S4 (my dad!).

The event ran very smoothly, with no major problems. My brother (85SLED) ran his car, and did very well, with a best time of 60.770s (FTD was 48s, by that race car Lotus 7; fastest street legal car was a 52, in a Corvette) I ran, and drove well, improving each time. I did not knock over a single cone, though I did go OC on one run. BTD was a 60.710 (Eric and I were pretty damn close). Dad, in the 928 S4, ran 63s, all three runs! Eric and I were also faster than the Ferrari! : )

Steve Church brought his fantastic Sonett III (not street legal) and ran a 54 for his BTD. One 9-5 Aero wagon showed up, but only ran once. An 86 900T ran in the first heat, running about 64-66s (stock ride). An 85 900T 4-door ran in the last heat, and ran three straight 69s, and most of the run was on three wheels!

Most of the course was in second gear for Eric and I. I thought I could hit third a couple of times, but there was not really any point, as the u-turns were fast and furious on this course (4 of them in all). My best power is in third, so that was disappointing!

It was a great day! Many thanks to Marvin Stockman, Bill Erskine and Harry of the SCNCA and Michael Gottlieb & Eric Heyse of the WASSAAB Club for getting up at 6 am to show up for the set up!
