Greddy Profec Boost controller Posted by MTAERO [Email] ![]() ![]() |
Been experimenting with a Greddy Profec B electronic boost controler on my 9000 AERO and my Subaru WRX. It is an excellent device and gives rock solid boost regulation that is not only ajustable from the cabin but also gives you two boost settings low and high.
Currently on my WRX I have the high set at 17 psi (fuel cutoff on the stock ecu is 17.5) and the low set at about 13 psi. Modes can be switched on the fly instantaneously, feels like a shot of nitrous when you hit the button. With the unit off you revert to basic boost, about 7 psi on the WRX the perfect valet switch, just turn it off.
On the Aero I'm using it to do two things.
1 - eliminate the high preload that the Abbott ecu requires for the wastegate actuator spring. Now I can set it at 7 psi.
2 - have different boost settings for 1st gear. Will probably use about 13 and 20 for the low and high settings. Will report on launch improvement when i'm dialed in on the Saab.
What were doing here is setting up a fully adjustable mechanism that can be switched between two boost settings. The switch is a momentary contact that is attached to the shift lever so you can switch to high boost while you are making the 1st to second shift.
There is no boost taper built into this controller, but our turbo's will not carry much over 15 psi past 5000 rpm except in high gear and then your already going 130+. More later.
