GM, do you have 94 octane fuel there? Could be part of the issue, if so. We only get 92 here in WA. With 3.0 bar FPR and stock injectors, and max boost of 15-16 psi, I was getting ping regularly. After I added water injection though, everything was peachy with the 3.0 bar FPR! :)
However, ping returned when the new engine went in and base boost was cranked up to 6 psi, which resulted in max boost of 20 psi or so. Added RRFPR set about 3.2 bar (though not the same one as Sab's) and 24# injectors and ping was mostly gone, but still getting some detonation. Currently, have APC set for max boost of 16-17 psi and it seems pretty stable.
Anyhoo, I think this just goes to show that all cars are not created equal, or at least do not remain so after all kinds of different mods and hundreds of thousands of miles... What works for one car may not work for another...
