Post '88 9000 turbo,and post '89 rest of range 9000 do have larger front calipers. The pistons are slightly bigger, 1mm dia I think (I have the figures somewhere, just cannot find them at the moment), but the pads are about 25% larger. And as Jordan mentioned, them backing plates need to be cut to get the calipers to fit.
