I've also thought about this, as I'll probably need a new head gasket within a year. I'm reluctant to have anybody doing any grinding on my head, however, without a proven track record. Bigger intake ports isn't necessarily better, if you mess up the flow or remove needed turbulence. So you want to see some data first. However, the hp increase claims for Swedish Dynamics and Abbott always sound a little exaggerated, and their prices are high. I may just send it to a reputable Saab Indy for a rebuild with good quality valves.
The SD copper head gasket sounds good, though.
A turbo/ECU upgrade may be just the thing for you, if your old turbo is kaput. A big exhaust would be a must if you do. I went with 3" JT downpipe, 3" high-flow cat, and 2.5" back of the cat. If you want to get funky, you could get the exhaust header unit from speedparts, but I would only do that if the old exhaust manifold was cracked.
