... with the tweaked (original T8) APC-box, and the intermittent low boost I got was at about the same level as the low boost I get now 50% of the time.
Not saying my boost gauge is right, but it does at least look consistent to me. And yes, when I was overshooting the red in 5th it did seem like the front wheels broke free or the (upgraded disc) clutch did not hold for a nanosecond... From 'seat of the pants' feel, easily on a par with the Lancer Evo VI or Audi RS4 I drove, scary! When I am on low boost, I can just about keep station with a stock T16 at speeds between 130 and 180 km/h, but lower down it does feel a fair bit quicker - presumably thanks to 2,119 cc of capacity vs. 1,985, balanced bottom end, a lighter flywheel and more 'immediate' response to fueling need via rrfpr.
With the tweaked APC, the moment you got from the intermittent low boost to 'end of the red' was like engaging warp drive...
But still, I'll investigate...
