Volvo LH-powered Saab Posted by Justin VanAbrahams [Email] ![]() ![]() |
Welp, I made the first steps today to see about a Volvo-powered Saab. Volvo used LH 2.2 from late '84 to 1989 in the B230FT engine. According to the parts exchange catalog they all used Bosch 25-pin 0 280 000 541 LH 2.2 ECUs and have compatible air mass meters. The "green top" low impedance injectors were used on mid '85-'89 cars, with "normal" high-impedance injectors used on '84s and some '85s. They used a standard 3-wire Bosch AIC and a 2-position TPS which should both be compatible with standard Saab fare. I have the Engine Management electrical manual on the floor of my car and a crappy Haynes 740 manual on my desk. They used "external" Hall-Effect ignition just like a Saab, so getting a tach signal in should not be a problem. I have all the parts in my garage, so once I get new motor mounts in the 5-door I'll try this out... should be mid-next-week. Also, FWIW, the Rancho Saab/Volvo Dismantlers (the guys with the parts exchange & electrical manual) told me that if this works, they'll put together a package with injectors/amm/ecu for $200-$250.
