Hi to everyone, it's been a while since I posted on Saabnet so I have lots of new things to talk about..

I crashed my (very pampered and modestly tweaked) '99 9-3 LPT and made a huge mess out of it. I was driving -on Christmas Day- in a 'spirited' shall we say manner, but not kamikaze-quick so I was at about 4000 rpm in 2nd gear and I come into this steep downhill 90 degree right hand turn in my neighborhood (which I know really well). I always go sideways into this turn taking advantage of the flimsy 15" rims traction and the sloppy suspension and this time was no different; the tail come around and I correct about half a steering wheel into the other direction and step on it. Except the tail keeps turning extremely fast.. -it all happened in a split second, but by the time I had locked the steering wheel I was face to face with the sidewalk. With the car moving sideways perpendiculer to the road it mounts the sidewalk and smashes into a tree. Turns out it was wet, and was so slippery that when walking up the road later I almost fell.

DAMAGE: Fucking ugly. At least the airbags didn't open and saved me a ton of money. Broke the radiator, oil cooler, A/C and my much cherished Viggen I/C. as well as the headlights, fog lights and turn signals Need new hood and wing also.
**PAY ATTENTION TO THIS**: the two 'beams' supporting the engine actually bent about 50-10cm to the side indicating a VERY flimsy chassis. As I understand it is fully correctable, but I still have worries about the future condition of the car not to mention the astronomical bill I recieved from my -significantly richer these days- mechanic.

Anyway, despite this I am planning on upgrading to 250-260hp this summer and am upgrading suspension + rims. I'm thinking of 235/40/17 on 7.5 rims -they fit to my knowledge- but perhaps they are overkill, drowning the engine at high speeds. I'm also worried about the clutch.

Best wishes to all, and take care. Shit happens, although I still think I fell victim to jealousy and the evil eye, despite all the ornaments I have discreetly placed on the rear view mirror..
