I've finally fixed my cold start over richness

I've been having cold start problems for awile now, and I knew it was because the ECU was over-richening the fuel.
I went to radio shack and bought some resistors. I put a 470 Ohm resistor on the Engine Temp Sensor plug and it fixed the problem. This is about the same resistance as a fully warmed up engine.
The only issue I have now is that it doesn't start right up in the morning. It takes about one minute of running really, really bad, and then it just smoothes out...No more missing or bucking.
So I'm wondering how the engine temp sensor affects air/fuel mixture over the entire range of Ohms.
After reading some other posts about the batch injectors and high rpm, I'm not so sure it would help that much.
I may hook up a pot. and play a little bit on the highway. The Dyno would be the best place to test, but I don't want to spend money on this kind of stuff! I at least need a way to adjust the Ohms for cold start and then right back to 470 Ohms. Maybe a switch with a relay or something.
