I want to go 3" after reading all the positive feedback here. Been hearing that straight-through from the turbo 3" is quieter than a glasspack (which I have now.) And much cheaper if you do it at a local exhaust shop.
The tone will not change much with or without a cat or muffler. Saab turbos seem to dampen a lot of the noise at the turbo...hence the straight pipe tolerability. Volume level will be affected though.
I think I would like to do 3" all the way back to a Supertrapp sticking out the back...just to give the ricers something to ponder. But back in reality...I don't know. Some research to be done.
That's an '85 16v Turbo by the way...
