The 93 9000 Aero was really fast, and the 00-02 Viggens with the 230 hp are significantly better performing than the 99:s and their lousy 225 hp that always loses steam at gearchanges...

Haven't seen any serious testing of the new 9-5 Aero with 250 hp, but my guess is it won't outrun the 9000 Aero.

A friend of mine runs appr. 320 hp in his 9-5, and we run more or less dead even. My 9000 has 270+ hp, perhaps 280 in cold weather. So it takes a significant power advantage for a heavy 9-5 to run even with a 9000.

The new 9-5 Viggen that's due for launch next autumn will (if the rumors are true) feature 285 hp and should take a stab at the title "fastest Saab".

As far as fast Saab's, there are a bunch of 9000's here in Sweden running just under or slightly above the 400 hp mark. There's also a NG900 with 437 hp that's being restored after a crash into a brick wall...

For next year, watch out for Maptun's Project 9000 that's being updated with HUGE ball bearing Garrett GT-series turbo, even larger injectors and plenty other goodies. And it's already been dynoed @ 366 hp with a best 1/4-mile time of 13.67. Some guys just never know when to quit...
