Hi guys, for real 9OO, we're just at the first dimensional mock-up stage for a reproduction of SAABs multi-plate ZF limited slip diff. Ive used conventional plate diffs in all my cars for over 15 years and they're great. If you put a space saver tire on the one side and a big thing on the other and drive in circles for days, wear could be a problem, but under normal daily drive and special stage use they're remarkably consistant. They're not harsh or grabby, providing your wheels are near the currect alignment specs, and the tire inflation is even side to side, and with power steering they are nearly invisable to the driver. Only thing thats different is you dont get the ol' inside wheel spin and the resultant loss of steering (and plow straight ahead) but rather you go where you point the wheels. Simple.
As to traction control, I think I would prefer to have some say in the matter rather than some German geek-boy at ATE deciding 5 yrs ago that "you
did'nt REALLY vant to gas it that hard, did you? HmmmmmmMMM? Ve have vays of making you grip!" and reducing boost, cutting fuel or WHATEVER.
Finally to all those who might suggest that plate type diff are somehow naughty, why did SAAB have ZF produce the thing if they were'nt a good product?
Contact me for more details, ok. We're trying to get some photos posted someplace, Stay tuned.
