with a recirculating type valve, when it opens and dumps the charge air back into the turbo intake, that pressure wave does not go into the turbo, the throttle blade is closed. The dumped charge air goes back out the AMM thru the air filter and out, hence the whooshing noise. The noise is the air coming back out of the system. Where else would it go?
This does not mean you can let a Bosche or a Forge vent to atmosphere though, because at light throttle, decell, or especially with the Bosche under some "cruise" conditions the valve can be open. This air that passes thru does need to be measured by the AMM.
I am sure the heavy duty Bosche unit would work fine for you.
