Well, my synchros finally gasped their last breath. I drove home (over 100 miles) last night with no synchros and it was not fun. I cannot double-clutch in this car for the life of me, so I ended up starting in 3rd, going up to 85 mph, then turning off the engine and shifting into 5th, then starting it again. Luckily traffic was light most of the way.

During the terrible trip, I grinded my gears a lot, I'm willing to bet 2nd gear is almost toast, 3rd and 5th are probably pretty bad too. My clutch is also in pretty bad shape. I'd also like to switch to synthetic oil in the transmission, and there's no drain plug in the transmission to this means a flush. Figure this will be the best time to do that, but I've heard that switching to synthetic in an engine that was broken in on non-synthetic can cause the seals to leak. Any comments?

I'm figuring my best option is to buy a new tranny, but if a rebuild is possible I'd be more than willing. If I'm doing a rebuild I'll be putting in a performance clutch kit and aluminum flywheel so all I want are synchros and gears. Does anyone have any good sources for these kinds of parts (including performance clutch or flywheel)?
