HP vs. $, when should you call it enough?

I'm on my 5th Saab, I bought this one because it's a convertible and I've always wanted one. 3 NA's, 1 9000T (2.3l), latest is an 88 900T. The 2 8v NA's couldn't get out of their own way, and the 9000T was impressive but not seriously fast. I've driven a 13 second GTO, a high 12 Chevelle and many Z28's and obviously my 88 900T will never come close to these cars. I'm wondering where is the best place to stop with mods before the hp to dollar ratio goes exponential? I've done the tune-up, EV ngk's, BOV, 1990 IC pipes are on their way, RRFPR goes in next week, then APC tweeks. I know that some of you guys have been doing this for many years and know about where the mods start to get too expensive for a daily driver. Thanks for all the advice.
