The dynamic force of the flow impinging on the piston face creates a dynamic force, quite independant of the static pressure. This dynamic force will cause the valve to open faster once it cracks open. So the valve will tend to pop open faster, which is the whole idea.
The bosch unit as OEM oriented, has the boost pressure against the diaphragm that surrounds the valve plug. The boost pressure acting on this tries to open the valve and this is opposed by the spring and the boost pressure applied via the vac line while on boost. If the bosch unit is reversed, then the pressure trying to open the valve will be applied only to the valve plug area which is smaller. This I believe would tend to make the valve open later when going off thottle from boost.
