Cool at idle- add fan to reduce heat soaked condition. get a plastic top (newer) IC- the all alum holds the heat longer.
Cool engine at boost- water injection is best, but here are some other ideas before you tear the front all apart to move.
New low temp fan switch fan switch, new radiator is always nice!, flush system, cut mix to 40% glycol / 60% water (additives out there too, but results/opinion vary), synth oil, high flow exhuast, etc...
As far as hurting anything- maybe your hands, but probably not the car.
