Trying to sources parts and locate dealers to upgrade the performance of my '01 9-5 Aero is a major hassle! Family and friends have german cars (VW,Audi,BMW) and resources and dealers are endless. I understand the economics of large production vs. small but a niche is still worth a few bucks to someone. No, I wouldn't buy one of the above (maybe the S6). This is my sixth Saab and it's a great car.
There is a US distributor for a Swedish tuner but the claims seem overblown. Very mixed review on these boards. The boutique tuners like Hirsch, Speedparts, Maptun, to name a few are difficult or impossible to obtain here and then you have to find a dealer that will install and service.
Then there is the technical side as it relates to who REALLY knows how to tweak the T7 software. It sounds as though only Gandolf knows how to do it just right as the others are charlatans. Aaaaargh!
At a minimum, a few tuners with a good distribution network in the US would be nice. A tuner endorsed by Saab, whose products have been put through the paces and are endorsed and warratied by Saab USA, would be outstanding.
I have heard the official Saab tuner rumor before but I am still hopeful.
Cheers,
gc
