A torsen limited slip is a gear driven, torque sensing (or torque biasing) unit, as opposed to a clutch or friction type limited slip differential. Quaiffe makes a torsen style limited slip they call a TBD (torque biasing differential). The main benefit to a gear driven unit is that it will allow for a little slip to compensate for radial rolling differences in front drive cars; they are much easier to drive and steer with than a clutch type differential. the main drawback is that a gear driven limited slip differential will revert to open when one wheel is completely off the ground. However this design puts less stress on a front drive car than a clutch unit.
