Bill,
The heat plate (it's actually singular) is located between the engine block and the intake manifold. Easiest is actually to try to find a car that you'r "pretty damn sure" does not have heat plate, and compare the two.
The plate itself is appr. 6-7 mm thick and is as wide as the manifold. It has electrical wires leading to it, but they're not that easy to spot actually.
Two sure-fire ways of checking if your car has heat plate is:
1) Check the front right fuse box (driver's side). Two of the fuses should have reference to "Heat Plate".
2) Check your boost @ 5500 rpm. If it's 0,69 bar you don't have heat plate, if it's 0,82 bar you HAVE heat plate.
If you do have heat plate, there's some nice "risk free" potential to unleash in your Aero.
Let me know how it turns out!
/ Karl
