The box in question IS a Trionic box... Or 'bionic' as some have called it...
The 9000 hasn't seen a distributor since 1991 or 92 or 93. The B234 motor was *never* a distributor motor until Saab put Motronic on it in the NG 900 and turned a $6 cap into a $60 cap...
The B234 in the 9000, turbo or injection, was always Direct Ignition, with DI, DI/APC or Trionic. DI & DI/APC went away for 1993, so Saab re-programmed the 'Trionic' controllers to do just fuel and ignition. It was cheaper than a) making B234 exhaust cams with drive lugs for the distributor and b) re-wiring the car *back* to LH & EZK...
Nice thing about the raw Trionic boxes. You can pretty much load any program on to them that you need.
