The reason the mechanics won't do it for you is because they are actually doing their job. Your wastegate actuator rod came to you in the length it did because Saab enginiers, working with Garrett (your turbo maker) decided that's where it should be! The mechanics don't want you to damage your car by "cranking up the boost".
That said, your wastegate actuator rod can be turned in. This changes your basic boost setting, and raises the threshold where the wastegate will be activated (from 11.7 psi to as high as 25 psi).
The actuator is attached to your turbo, and the rod is attached to, dah ha, the wastegate! Detach it from the wastegate by removing the pin holding it on there (wait until the engine is cold or you'll scorch your arm). Then loosen the set nut, and crank in the arm that was attached at the wastegate.
The Trent unit is very impressive, though very sensitive. It is causing me to have too much boost right now.
Good luck, and always listen to your mechanics when you don't know the answer...
